Ever since Asus stopped producing new ROG Phones, it’s felt a bit like RedMagic was the only name left in the game for proper Android gaming handhelds. However, there is a new player entering the arena that looks set to fill that gap left by Asus.
iQOO is gearing up to launch the iQOO 15 Ultra in China on 4 February, and it sounds like a beast. It is coming packed with an active cooling fan and a bit of a standout design to match. Gamers will be pleased to hear it includes shoulder triggers with a 600Hz sampling rate, managed by their own dedicated control chips to keep everything snappy.
The well-known Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station has shared some eye-watering specs, too. We are talking a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset paired with up to 24GB of RAM and a massive 1TB of storage. The screen is reportedly a 6.85-inch LTPO flat panel with 2K resolution, so your games should look absolutely brilliant.
It isn’t just about the raw power, though. The 15 Ultra is rumoured to feature a triple 50MP rear camera setup and a 32MP selfie snapper. To keep you going through those long sessions, there is a hefty 7,400mAh battery under the hood with 100W charging, plus an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner for quick access. It definitely seems like one to watch for anyone serious about mobile gaming, but there’s no news whether this phone will make it to the global market.
