One of the most sought-after graphics cards on the market is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090. Gamers want it for its incredible performance, while creators and developers are keen to grab one for training and running AI models.
However, this top-tier GPU might not be around for much longer. According to a report by VideoCardz citing reliable hardware leaker MEGAsizeGPU, Nvidia appears to be stepping away from producing GB202-based GeForce cards altogether.
The leaker claims that GB202 GPUs will no longer be funnelled into making new RTX 5090 models. Instead, all freshly minted GB202 chips will be allocated directly to Nvidia’s professional RTX PRO lineup.
This shift would impact both the standard RTX 5090 and its regional variants, such as those made for the Chinese market, which rely on the same underlying silicon.
Adding fuel to the fire, another well-known Nvidia leaker, hongxing2020, suggests that Nvidia has already notified manufacturing facilities about halting RTX 5090 production.
The same report hints at a potential 24GB version of the RTX 5080, which could replace the current 16GB model and take over as the brand’s flagship gaming card.
Take note that Nvidia hasn’t confirmed any of these plans yet, nor have they announced an official end-of-production date for the RTX 5090, so take these rumours with a grain of salt.
