Rumours are circulating online about Sony preparing to launch a more powerful PlayStation 5 (PS5), yet there have been no leaks or confirmations from official sources.
Now, there’s a rumour that a game developer is delaying their game release due to the upcoming launch of the PS5 Pro, according to an Italian website Multiplayer.
Wccftech reported hearing similar information from their source during Gamescom 2024. According to them, a game developer received the PS5 Pro specifications and is confident that Unreal Engine 5 games will run significantly better on the new hardware compared to the regular PS5.
They also noted that they believe a large number of game developers already have the hardware’s specifications and details, making an official announcement likely soon.
Take note that the validity of these rumours has yet to be determined. While we wait for the official confirmation, here are the alleged PS5 Pro specifications:
- 45% performance improvement in rasterised rendering thanks to a larger GPU and faster memory.
- Hugely improved ray tracing architecture delivering 2-3X speedup on average, with peaks of 4X.
- Custom machine learning architecture that supports 300 TOPS at 8-bit to power the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaling technique, Sony’s version of Multi Frame Super Resolution based on the PlayStation Machine Learning (PSML) algorithm.
- PSSR is an ML-enhanced version of Temporal Anti-Aliasing Upscaling (TAAU) that requires inputs similar to NVIDIA DLSS or AMD FSR and fully supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) pipelines. It also does not require per-game training like the latest version of DLSS.
