If you’ve been keeping up with video game news, you might be aware that Nintendo has officially announced a successor to the Nintendo Switch is on the way.
The prominent Japanese video game company has not released any details except for the announcement of its arrival.
However, purported images of the Nintendo Switch 2 have surfaced online, displaying a design that closely resembles its predecessor.
The images that surfaced on Reddit, initially posted on a Chinese social media platform, depict a device featuring an 8-inch display, magnetic Joy-Cons, and USB-C ports located at both the top and bottom.
Although the images remain unconfirmed, according to VGC, their source, who has not viewed the final Switch 2 console but is informed about Nintendo’s plans, told them that the images on Reddit align with the company’s descriptions provided to its partners regarding the design.
The Switch 2 is reported to feature 12GB of RAM, a significant increase from the original Switch’s 4GB, along with HDMI 2.1 support, and a substantial 256GB of internal storage, up from the original console’s 32GB.
VGC reported last year, based on information from two sources, that the console may feature an LCD screen instead of the costlier OLED to cut expenses, especially considering the requirement for more storage to support high-fidelity games.
Be aware that the CAD renders may not be authentic; however, the prototype shown above, which illustrates the Joy-Con shells and the internal component of the Switch 2, might be genuine, as per the Reddit post.
Nintendo is expected to make announcement regarding the Switch 2 during its current fiscal year, which runs until 31 March 2025.
