Lenovo has just released their latest gaming slate in China, the Legion Y700 (Gen 5), and it is definitely not pulling any punches in the power department.
It is packing the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, which is paired with Lenovo’s ColdFront vapour chamber cooling system to keep things from getting too toasty during intense sessions. They are offering an eye-watering 24GB of LPDDR5T RAM, which is frankly massive for a tablet this size.

On the storage front, you can spec this thing up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 Pro, and there is even a microSD slot if you still manage to run out of space for your game library.
The screen is an 8.8-inch IPS LCD panel, which might be a bit of a letdown for anyone hoping for the deep blacks of an OLED like we see on the RedMagic Astra. That said, it still looks sharp with a 3,040 x 1,904 resolution and a buttery smooth 165Hz refresh rate. It is plenty bright too, sitting at 600 nits normally but capable of hitting 750 nits (peak brightness).

One of the more practical design choices here is the inclusion of two USB-C ports, meaning you can top up the battery without having to mess around with adaptors or unplug your gaming controller and wired headphones. Speaking of the battery, it is a 9,000mAh dual-cell unit that supports 68W wired charging, so you should be back in the game fairly quickly after a refill.

As for the cost, the base 12GB and 256GB model starts at CNY4,299 (~RM2,459) in China, while the kitted-out 24GB RAM version will set you back CNY6,399 (~RM3,661).
Over in Europe and the UK, this device has actually already made its debut under the Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5 branding. However, for those of us waiting elsewhere, there is still no official word on when or if the Legion Tab will be making its way to the Malaysian market anytime soon.
