So, Meta just dropped a pretty massive announcement. They are officially rolling out subscription plans for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp.
If you decide to subscribe to Instagram Plus or Facebook Plus, it will set you back USD3.99 (~RM15.86) a month, while WhatsApp Plus comes in slightly cheaper at USD2.99 (~RM11.90) a month.
At the same time, Meta is kicking off tests for some other tiers. This includes professional plans aimed at creators and businesses, alongside AI-focused plans for regular users. Moving forward, all of these new tests are being bundled under a new umbrella brand called Meta One, which will basically be the central hub for all of the company’s subscription offerings.
If you are wondering about Meta Verified, the company confirmed to TechCrunch that these new plans won’t replace it. Meta Verified is staying right where it is, keeping its focus on verification, impersonation protection, and extra customer support.
If you are curious about what you actually get, the new Instagram Plus plan comes packed with features designed to give you a clearer picture of your audience. For starters, you will be able to see an aggregate count of how many people have rewatched your Stories, and you can create unlimited custom audience lists that go way beyond the standard Close Friends option.
You will also get the ability to spotlight one story a week for an extra view boost, keep stories alive for longer than 24 hours, and preview someone else’s story without your name showing up on their viewer list. Plus, you can search through your own story viewer list to see exactly who is watching, or even post directly to your profile and highlights without broadcasting it to your followers’ main feeds.
On top of the analytical tools, subscribers get access to Super Heart animated reactions for Stories, custom app icons, changeable fonts for profile bios, and extra slots to pin posts to their profiles.
Facebook Plus is set to offer a very similar features, but WhatsApp Plus is taking a slightly different route. Instead of story metrics, it focuses on communication upgrades like custom app themes, unique ringtones, extra pinned chats, list customisation, and premium stickers.
These plans are rolling out globally, and eventually we might see these plans available for Malaysian users as well.
