Microsoft is reportedly gearing up to launch a range of new consoles, including two gaming handhelds and the next-generation successor to the Xbox Series X/S.
The company is collaborating with a PC gaming OEM (such as ASUS, Lenovo, MSI, Razer, etc.) to develop an Xbox-branded gaming handheld, codenamed “Keenan,” according to Windows Central.
The device is targeted for release in late 2025, assuming plans stay on track. The handheld will feature a distinctly “Xbox” design, complete with the iconic Xbox guide button and the brand’s signature aesthetic.
As a partner device—similar to Lenovo’s SteamOS collaboration with Valve—it’s expected to lean more toward a PC-oriented experience. Keenan is also expected to run a full version of Windows, emphasising the Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass, while also supporting third-party platforms like Steam.
Additionally, the report suggests that Microsoft’s internal plans for the successor to the Xbox Series X|S platform have received full approval, including the green light from CEO Satya Nadella.
The next-generation hardware lineup is said to include a premium follow-up to the Xbox Series X, an Xbox-branded gaming handheld, and several new controller options. Tentatively, these new console devices are slated for a 2027 release.
