Malaysia’s single digital gateway for public services, called MyGOV Malaysia, is set to launch next month. The mobile app is part of the government’s GovTech initiative, designed to simplify access to various government agencies.
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo explained that this initiative aligns with the government’s goal of transforming Malaysia into a digital nation. He emphasised the need for a unified platform that allows citizens to interact with multiple government agencies smoothly and efficiently, according to Bernama.
MyGOV Malaysia will focus on seven key services: travel (passport-related matters), registration (birth and citizenship records), driving (road tax and license renewals), and health (medical appointments and health records). It will also cover summons services (checking and paying fines), housing (land and assessment taxes), and the Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR).
The minister mentioned that more features will be added in the future to improve the app’s functionality. MyGOV Malaysia will also integrate with MyDigital ID, providing a secure and streamlined way to access government services.
Users will be able to verify their identity and access services directly through the app using their MyDigital ID credentials. As of now, 2.6 million MyDigital ID registrations have been recorded. The single sign-on system will initially connect 34 major government service systems, with more to be added later.
The development of MyGOV Malaysia involved collaboration between the government and private sector, including telecom companies and banks. The app is expected to help reduce operating costs for Urban Transformation Centres (UTCs) nationwide while improving government productivity through data-driven decision-making.
