The Nintendo Switch was launched in March 2017 and is now entering its eighth year, with an impressive 129 million people still actively playing on Switch consoles.
To date, Nintendo has sold a total of 150.86 million units across the entire Switch family, including the original Switch (V1 and V2), the Switch Lite, and the Switch OLED models.
This remarkable sales figure means the Switch is on the verge of becoming Nintendo’s best-selling console of all time. Currently, the Nintendo DS holds the title as Nintendo’s second-best-selling console, with lifetime sales of 154 million units.
However, the best-selling console in history remains Sony’s PlayStation 2, which achieved over 160 million units sold during its lifetime.
The question now is whether the Switch 2 can reach or even surpass this monumental milestone. Only time will tell, and we’ll have to wait another eight years to find out.
