Nvidia has reportedly pulled the plug on the RTX 5070 Ti, and it looks like those pesky memory chip shortages are to blame. The massive boom in AI and data centres are hogging all the available storage and memory components. Because of this, one of the most popular mid-range cards in the 50 series lineup is reportedly being sent to the scrapheap much earlier than anyone expected.
According to Hardware Unboxed, Asus has let slip that Nvidia stopped sending over the GPUs needed for this specific model. This means that whatever is sitting on the shelves right now is likely the final batch we will ever see. Asus apparently confirmed there are no plans to get the production lines moving for this version again.
If you have got deep pockets, you don’t need to worry just yet, as the high-end RTX 5080 and 5090 are staying in production for the time being. However, the news isn’t great for the rest of the mid-range family. The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB version is also feeling the pinch from these shortages and has been marked as end-of-life by ASUS. It seems Nvidia is prioritising the 8GB variants of the 5060 and 5060 Ti for now, probably because they are easier to keep supplied while everyone else fights over the high-capacity chips.
However, Nvidia itself is saying otherwise. In a statement to Hardwareluxx, they insisted that demand for GeForce cards is still going strong and acknowledged that memory supply is tight. They claim they are still shipping all their different models and working behind the scenes with suppliers to get as much memory as possible.
To top it all off, the RTX 50 Super series that everyone was waiting for at CES 2026 seems to have been binned or at least pushed back indefinitely. Hardware Unboxed mentioned that the board partners who turned up to the show were pretty annoyed about the whole thing. Apparently, Nvidia had previously signaled that the launch was a go, only to change their minds at the eleventh hour and leave everyone hanging.
