Nvidia has discovered new security vulnerabilities and is urging everyone to update their GPU drivers straight away. If you are gaming on Windows or Linux, or running an RTX or Quadro rig, you will want to make sure you are sorted.
For the Windows users, the issues lurk in the kernel-mode driver and how it handles resources. We are talking about things like dodgy GPU resource access, a time-of-check/time-of-use flaw, and a driver-lock leak. If someone managed to exploit these, they could trigger anything from a total denial of service and privilege escalation to data tampering, information disclosure, or rogue code execution. Nvidia has slapped a high severity rating on these Windows and Linux driver bugs, so it is definitely worth paying attention to.
If you are on Windows, Nvidia points to version 596.36 as the fixed R595 driver. The good news is that the latest public GeForce Game Ready driver is already ahead of the game, with version 596.49 having dropped on 12 May 2026.
This means if you always keep your graphics card up to date, you likely already have the patch installed. However, if you prefer sticking to older driver branches, you should definitely check out Nvidia’s advisory to find the right fixed version for your specific setup.
