OLED Displays Could Be Coming To iPad Air & iPad Mini

The MacBook Air might also be getting an OLED display too, but not anytime soon.

It seems the iPad Air and iPad mini could be in for some pretty big display upgrades before long.

According to Mark Gurman, that ever-reliable source for Apple news, the tech giant is currently testing new versions of the iPad Air and the iPad mini that feature OLED displays. For the iPad mini, the plan is apparently to introduce this new screen technology in 2026.

While an OLED display would be a very welcome upgrade for the popular smaller tablet, it’s expected to come with a higher price tag. The report indicates the OLED model could cost around USD100 (~RM420) more than the current version.

Beyond the screen, Apple is also said to be working on a redesigned chassis for the iPad mini, which would add useful features like water resistance and an improved speaker system.

As for the iPad Air, it’s also expected to make the jump to OLED in the coming years, though the next model is reportedly sticking with an LCD panel for now.

Looking even further ahead, Gurman said an OLED version of the MacBook Air is in development too. However, that particular upgrade is still a long way off, with a potential launch not expected until around 2028.
