Sony announced the more powerful PlayStation 5 two weeks ago and called it “PS5 Pro,” but at that time, the company didn’t announce the local pricing and availability.
But recently, Sony finally made the announcement and much like for the global market, the upgraded console is scheduled to arrive in Malaysia on 7 November 2024, and will retail for a jaw-dropping retail price of RM3,849. For comparison, the launch price of PS4 Pro in November 2016 was RM 1,799.

Those who are interested can pre-order the PS5 Pro via Sony’s official web store and participating retailers starting from 26 September.
Take note that the PS5 Pro doesn’t come with a Blu-ray disc drive which retails for RM529. Besides that, you also need a PlayStation Plus in order to play multiplayer games, and a one-year subscription costs RM235.
When you total it, the cost comes to RM4,613, nearing the price of a gaming PC. Although a PC at this price point may not perform as well as the PS5 Pro, it’s my belief that a PC offers significantly more value than a PS5 Pro.
