Heads up if you were planning to grab a PlayStation console soon, because Sony Malaysia has just pulled the trigger on a price hike across the entire PlayStation 5 range.
Starting 1 May 2026, you are looking at a slightly heavier hit to your wallet. The standard PS5 now sits at RM2,799, while the Digital Edition has climbed to RM2,499. If you had your eye on the beefed-up PS5 Pro, that will now set you back RM3,999.
It is not just the consoles feeling the pinch, either. The PlayStation Portal remote player is also joining the trend, though you have got a tiny bit of breathing room there. Its new price of RM1,099 does not kick in until 1 May 2026, so you have a few days to scramble if you want to beat the clock.
As for the reasoning behind the shift, Sony is pointing the finger at those ever-present pressures in the global economic landscape. They have framed the decision as a necessary move to ensure they can keep the innovation flowing and maintain the high-quality gaming experiences we expect.
