Qualcomm is set to unveil its upcoming flagship chipset soon, and the company is reportedly renaming its branding, with the new chip being named “Snapdragon 8 Elite.”

According to the leaked poster, the Xiaomi 15 series will be unveiled on 23 October 2024, in China, showcasing the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

The transition from the Snapdragon 8 Gen series to the Snapdragon 8 Elite marks a significant shift in Qualcomm’s branding strategy. This change mirrors previous transitions, such as moving from the triple-number system (e.g., Snapdragon 888) to the 8 Gen X series.

The new branding might cause some initial confusion as it deviates from Qualcomm’s previous straightforward numbering system.

Qualcomm’s rebranding strategy may be aimed at aligning with the Snapdragon X Elite processors, integrating the “Elite” branding across their product lineup.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite is expected to be based on TSMC’s advanced 3nm process and will be officially unveiled at the Snapdragon Summit 2024 in Maui, Hawaii, from October 21-23.

This processor will feature two performance cores clocked at 4.0 GHz and six efficiency cores at 2.8 GHz, utilizing Qualcomm’s custom Oryon architecture. Early benchmarks indicate a significant boost in performance compared to its predecessor.

Besides the Xiaomi 15 series, Qualcomm’s new chip is set to power several flagship devices, including the realme GT 7 Pro, OnePlus 13, and, Samsung S25 series.
