Socar Malaysia is wrapping things up and shutting down operations on 31 August 2026. The app-based car rental service has been operating in Malaysia since 2018, giving folks a quick way to grab a vehicle on demand, but its run is officially coming to an end.
If you use the platform, top-ups for Socar Wallets were switched off on 15 August. You can still spend whatever cash you have left in your account before the final shutdown date. If you do not manage to use it all up, you will be able to get a refund or shift your balance over to Trevo Wallet. Trevo, which is Socar’s peer-to-peer car-sharing arm, is staying open for business.
The official wallet refund process kicks off on 1 September 2026. Socar mentioned that they will be dropping the step-by-step instructions through their main channels beforehand so users know how to claim their cash back, according to Paultan.
As for subscriptions, new sign-ups are already off the table and existing plans are being phased out. If you have active time left on a subscription, Socar will be issuing prorated refunds for the unused portion as part of the closure.
