The iQOO 15 Is An Android Gaming Powerhouse With The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

This phone is packing a 7,000mAh battery and a big vapour chamber to keep the phone cool under heavy loads.

iQOO has just launched its new flagship gaming phone, the iQOO 15, over in China. This thing is absolutely packed to the gills with top-tier hardware, making it a proper powerhouse for anyone who takes their mobile gaming seriously.

Under the bonnet, you’ll find the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 system-on-a-chip, which is joined by iQOO’s own Q3 gaming chip for an extra performance boost. It can be configured with up to a whopping 16GB of that speedy LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage, so you shouldn’t be left wanting for power or space. It all runs on Android 16, skinned with iQOO’s own OriginOS 6.

The front is dominated by a rather huge 6.85-inch Samsung M14 AMOLED LTPO display. It’s a 2K panel with a buttery-smooth 144Hz refresh rate and an eye-searing peak brightness that can hit 2,600nits. It also boasts Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support, along with some clever 2160Hz PWM and DC dimming to help with eye strain. An underscreen ultrasonic fingerprint scanner handles the security.

On the camera front, the main shooter is a 50MP Sony IMX921 sensor with optical image stabilisation. It’s joined by a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, using the Sony IMX882 sensor, for a proper 3x optical zoom, and another 50MP sensor for your ultrawide shots. Around the front, a 32MP camera handles selfies and video calls. A nice aesthetic touch is the RGB LED strip that encircles the camera module on the back.

Keeping all this tech going is a massive 7,000mAh single-cell silicon-carbon battery. It supports 100W wired charging and 40W wireless charging, and also includes features like smart bypass and reverse charging. To manage the heat from those intense gaming sessions, iQOO has fitted a colossal 14,000mm² vapour chamber.

The rest of the spec sheet is just as impressive, featuring an IP68 and IP69 rating for dust and water resistance, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, dual-band GPS, and a set of dual speakers.

The phone is available in Track Edition (Black), Legendary Edition (White), Lingyun, and Wilderness (Light Green) colour options.

The iQOO 15 starts at CNY4,199 (~RM2,493) for the model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. For now, it’s a China-only affair, and we’re left to wonder if, or when, it might make its way to global markets.
