Previously, all the PS5 Pro rumours were nothing but words, but now we finally have an idea how the upgraded PS5 console might look like when it releases.
Dealabs reports that a leaker named billbil-kun has confirmed the mid-generation update will be called the PS5 Pro. They have also released a sketch of its design, which is said to be based on the console’s final packaging box.
The sketch depicts a console design akin to the current PS5 Slim, with the addition of three black stripes on the middle of the PS5 Pro’s outer case, absent on the base models.
Billbill-kun also mentioned that the PS5 Pro appears to be slightly thicker than the PS5 Slim, likely to accommodate more powerful hardware.
The PS5 Pro version identified by Billbill-kun is missing a disc drive. It is still unclear whether Sony plans to release a variant of the console with a disc drive or market it solely as a version without one, potentially requiring consumers to pay extra for the disc drive if they desire it.
Furthermore, no pricing details have been disclosed, but it’s definitely going to more expensive.
Rumours suggest the PS5 Pro will offer enhanced rasterization and ray-tracing capabilities, along with an upscaling/antialiasing feature known as PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling (PSSR). It is also expected to include a custom machine learning architecture and an AI accelerator.
