Ubisoft Reveals Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, Now Sailing The Caribbean Sea With Ray Tracing & Improved Gameplay

This is a remake of AC Black Flag, and it's coming out on 9 July 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Ubisoft has finally confirmed what we have all been hoping for: a full remake of the fan-favourite Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. Titled Black Flag Resynced, the project is being headed up by the team at Ubisoft Singapore, who have brought back a lot of the original devs to make sure the soul of the game stays intact while dragging the tech into the current generation. It is coming around sooner than you might think, too, with a release date set for 9 July 2026.

Ubisoft stated that they have completely rebuilt the world using the latest version of the Anvil engine. This means we are getting the same level of fidelity seen in Shadows, including ray-traced lighting and reflections that should make the Caribbean look absolutely stunning.

Consoles are also getting a proper 60 FPS, 30 FPS and a 40 FPS mode and they have even overhauled the water simulation and physics from scratch, so sailing the Jackdaw should feel more immersive than ever.

The gameplay is getting a serious facelift as well. Combat has been reworked to feel a bit more visceral, introducing parrying mechanics, quick-fire rope darts, and even a new enemy type called the Demolitionist. If you prefer the quiet approach, the stealth system now includes a crouch-anywhere feature and an “observe” mode to boost Edward’s Eagle Vision. They have also tweaked the parkour to give us back more manual control, including side and back ejects for those who miss the more technical movement of the older titles.

Life at sea sounds much busier this time around. You will be able to recruit specific officers to the Jackdaw who grant unique combat abilities, and you can even have a cat or monkey join you as a ship’s pet. The naval combat itself has been expanded with new gear like shrapnel barrels and 8-pounder cannons. Outside of the action, the world feels more alive thanks to the new Atmos weather system, which makes everything from billowing sails to rolling coconuts react dynamically to the wind and storms.

Ubisoft also stated that Matt Ryan (original voice actor of Edward Kenway) and the rest of the original cast have returned to record new scenes and missions. They have also tossed in ten new sea shanties for the crew to sing and revamped the Kenway’s Fleet mechanic so you can manage your passive income directly from the captain’s cabin.

The standard edition will be hitting shelves at USD60 (RM238) on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and for PC is RM199 on Steam. Here are the PC requirements, so you can check whether your gaming rig can handle this game.

We only have about two and a half months to wait before we can jump back into the golden age of piracy.
