Vivo X Fold5 Launches With The Biggest Battery In A Foldable

This foldable also packs the highest water resistance ratings—IPX8 for submersion and IPX9+ for water jets.

Vivo just dropped its newest flagship foldable, the X Fold5 in China, and it’s got the largest battery ever seen in a foldable phone so far.

Under the hood, it’s running the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3—not the top-tier 8 Elite, but still plenty powerful for most users. It comes with either 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and storage options of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB using UFS 4.1.

The phone features a 6.53-inch cover display and an 8.03-inch inner screen. The inner display is now a Zeiss Master Color Screen with second-gen Armor Glass for extra durability. It’s an LTPO OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 2,480 x 2,200 resolution, and 10-bit colour support. The outer display has a 2748 x 1172 resolution.

The Titanium version measures 9.2mm when folded and just 4.3mm unfolded, weighing in at 217g. The White and Green Pine versions are slightly thicker at 9.7mm folded and 4.55mm unfolded, with a weight of 226g.

For photography, there’s a 50MP main camera with a Sony IMX921 sensor, a Zeiss T* coated f/1.57 lens, and OIS. The telephoto is a 3x periscope lens (f/2.55) with OIS and a 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor. The ultra-wide is another 50MP shooter with a 15mm f/2.05 lens, also featuring Zeiss T* coating.

The X Fold5 is the first foldable to score top-tier water resistance ratings—IPX8 for submersion and IPX9+ for water jets. It’s also rated IP5X for dust resistance and can handle extreme cold, operating in temperatures as low as -20°C.

Battery life is a big highlight, with a massive 6,000mAh capacity split into two silicon-carbon cells (3,275mAh and 2,725mAh). It supports 80W wired charging and 40W fast wireless charging.

Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 (with support for aptX HD, Lossless, LDAC, and LHDC), NFC, and off-grid text and voice over Bluetooth with a range of up to 1km. The USB-C port supports USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps) and DisplayPort for video output.

Pricing starts at CNY6,999 (~RM4,127) for the 12GB/256GB model. Right now, the X Fold5 is only available in China, but a global release might be coming soon.
