Volvo Car Malaysia has officially introduced the Volvo EX90, the brand’s first fully electric seven-seater SUV. According to the company, the EX90 isn’t just fully electric—it’s also designed to be the safest Volvo ever.
In Malaysia, the EX90 is available as the Ultra Twin variant, which comes with the highest powertrain and trim specs. It’s a pretty big deal for Volvo, as it’s their first model equipped with LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging), a remote sensing technology that uses laser beams to measure distances and create detailed 3D models of an environment.

It’s also the first to be fully software-driven, and the first built with hardware ready for future autonomous driving.
The EX90’s sleek design, including a rounded front, flush door handles, and smooth glazing, helps it achieve an impressive drag coefficient of 0.29. Performance-wise, the Ultra Twin packs 517 horsepower and 910 Nm of torque, thanks to its all-wheel-drive setup. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds.

Power comes from a 111 kWh lithium-ion battery (107 kWh usable), which can charge from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes. On a full charge, it delivers up to 623 km of range under the WLTP cycle.
Inside, the EX90 is loaded with features like a panoramic sunroof, Pilot Assist with adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, powered tailgate, folding third-row seats, and four-zone climate control. The Ultra trim adds even more luxury with air suspension, first-row seat massage, soft-close doors, 21-inch Aero wheels, and laminated side and rear windows.

Buyers can pick from four exterior colours—Onyx Black, Crystal White, Vapour Grey, or the new Sand Dune. For the interior, there’s a choice of Charcoal or Cardamom upholstery in Nordico material, paired with FSC-certified Birch Wood trim.
The EX90 is basically a computer on wheels, constantly improving through over-the-air updates. It runs on Volvo’s Superset tech stack, powered by NVIDIA DRIVE AI and in-house software.
Every EX90 comes with a five-year unlimited-mileage warranty, while the battery is covered for eight years or 160,000 km.
Alongside the EX90, Volvo has introduced the new XC90 powered by a 2.0 litre engine paired with an eight-speed Geartronic transmission and all-wheel drive.
