What To Expect From The Xiaomi 17 Ultra

Rumour has it that there will be two versions of Ultra.

Xiaomi has just pulled the covers off the new Xiaomi 17 series, showing us the base model, the Pro, and the Pro Max. But the one everyone’s really waiting for, the photography-centric 17 Ultra, is still on the horizon. Thankfully, the ever-reliable leaker Digital Chat Station (DCS) has given us a bit of a sneak peek into what to expect.

According to DCS, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is set to boast a rather serious quad-camera array on the back. We’re looking at a combination of one 200MP sensor paired with three separate 50MP sensors. The main camera is tipped to offer a seriously high dynamic range, whilst the periscope telephoto lens is said to be getting some new optical tech. One of the other two will be an ultrawide, leaving the fourth as a standard telephoto.

The leaker reckons this new setup represents a massive leap over the previous Ultra model, with the main and periscope cameras in particular receiving significant upgrades. It sounds like they’re not just iterating; they’re making a proper statement.

And for those who really want the absolute best, there’s a twist. DCS mentioned that the 17 Ultra will actually come in two versions. Both will share the same core sensor and lens technology, but the more expensive model is set to include a few revolutionary imaging features that will set it apart. It seems Xiaomi is saving its biggest camera innovations for the very top of the line.

At the time of writing, there’s no news about the launching date of the Ultra phones.
