WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to create personalised AI chatbots directly within the app.
This development comes as Meta continues to explore innovative ways to enhance user experiences with artificial intelligence (AI).
The discovery was made by WABetaInfo, who uncovered the feature in version 2.25.1.26 of WhatsApp beta for Android. According to the report, the feature is tentatively called “AI Character,” and a leaked screenshot hints at its potential functionality.

Users will be able to design their AI chatbots by describing their intended purpose and primary objectives. To simplify the process, WhatsApp is expected to provide suggestions to help users customise their bots effectively.
The feature aims to offer a more personalised AI interaction compared to existing options like Meta’s AI Chatbot and ChatGPT, which are already accessible within WhatsApp.
This feature is still under development, thus it’s currently unavailable to both public and beta users. There is no official word yet on when it will be rolled out globally.
