WhatsApp Rolling Out New Call Features – Here’s What’s Coming

WhatsApp’s latest Android beta reveals experimental call features, including pre-call mute, camera toggle, and emoji reactions.

WhatsApp is trying out some new features for Android users using the beta version of the app, and these new features are all about audio and video calls.

First up—there’s now a mute button for incoming voice calls right in the notification panel. You can answer the call while keeping your mic off. Not totally sure how handy this’ll be though.

Next, for video calls, you can now turn off your camera before answering. Perfect if you need a sec to fix your hair (or just don’t feel like being on camera at all). It’s also great for privacy—especially if you’re getting a video call from an unknown number and don’t wanna pop up on screen right away.

There’s also emoji reactions for video calls. Now you can throw in a quick 😂 or 👍 during the call to keep things fun.

Right now, these features are rolling out to some beta testers, but they should reach more people in the next few weeks.
