Xbox Elite Controller Series 3 Leaked Details Reveal Major Upgrades

The upgrades include Hall effect and TMR sticks, advanced haptics, and four customisable models.

Thanks to a leak a few months back, we already knew Microsoft had a new Xbox Elite Controller Series 3 in the pipeline. Now, new details have dropped revealing what specs this premium gamepad will pack, and this time the leak came directly from Microsoft’s own backyard.

A post on the r/GamingLeaksandRumours subreddit highlights how one user dug through Xbox Design Lab code and stumbled across references to a controller codenamed Edessa, tied to a customisation package named Beatrice.

The findings point to some serious hardware upgrades across the board. Gamers will likely get to choose between Hall effect and TMR sticks, with options for different magnetic tech and resistance levels right out of the box. The code also reveals advanced voice coil haptic motors alongside standard trigger vibration, plus a dedicated scroll wheel for quick audio tweaks on the fly.

On the physical design side, Microsoft appears to be planning customisable faceplates with metal finishes, along with silent stick necks designed to reduce friction. Customisation options extend to multiple paddle shapes including a new butterfly layout, paired with standard or performance focused directional pads.

Four distinct models were spotted in the code. Two feature full advanced haptics and two stick with standard rumble, with each tier split into a streamlined base pack or a complete edition bundled with extra gear like carrying cases and charging docks.

While there is no word yet on an official release date or final pricing, an launch seems imminent. You can likely expect the new pad to sit around the USD200 (~RM817), matching the price tag of the previous generation model.
