Yes has just launched the Malaysia’s first ever 5G Advanced prepaid product. Called the Yes 5G Advanced Starter Pack, it costs only RM10 and is being pitched as the easiest entry point into 5G.
For that, you get 20GB of data, uncapped speeds, and a full 30 days of validity. That makes it the longest-lasting RM10 prepaid plan you can currently find on the market.
All existing Yes prepaid customers have been automatically upgraded to Yes 5G Advanced at no extra cost and without any action needed on their part. This makes Yes the only operator in Malaysia to provide 5G Advanced connectivity as standard for its entire customer base, covering everyone from prepaid and postpaid users to broadband subscribers.
So, what does 5G Advanced actually mean for the user? According to Yes, it enables higher definition audio and video streaming, along with smoother, low-latency connections. This stability is key for everything from mobile gaming to industrial uses. The network is also built to handle crowded, high-traffic areas more effectively and is designed to support the latency-sensitive demands of AI workloads, which could help pave the way for new “physical AI” applications.
After first introducing the technology in the Klang Valley, Yes has now completed rolling out Yes 5G Advanced across its entire 5G network footprint. The company reports it has achieved 82.4% coverage in populated areas nationwide.
If you fancy giving it a go, the Yes 5G Advanced Starter Pack will be available from 22 December. You can pick one up at Yes Stores and authorised dealers, through the official Yes website and the MyYes app, or via their official stores on Shopee and TikTok Shop. It will also be sold at MyNews and CU convenience stores.
Just a friendly reminder, you will need a 5G Advanced-compatible device to tap into all the benefits of the new service. Phones like Samsung Galaxy S23 or newer, or Vivo X200 or newer will support 5G-Advanced.
