YouTube has recently launched a more affordable version of its Premium subscription, known as “Premium Lite.”
Priced at USD 7.99 (~RM 35.40) per month, this new plan is significantly cheaper than the standard Premium plan, which costs USD 13.99 or RM 20.90 per month in Malaysia.
The Premium Lite plan allows users to enjoy “most videos” without ads, covering a wide range of content such as gaming, fashion, beauty, news, and more.

However, there’s a notable exception: music videos. To access ad-free music videos, users will still need to upgrade to the regular Premium plan, which also includes additional features like offline downloads and background playback.
Currently, the Premium Lite plan is only available in the US, but YouTube has announced plans to roll it out to users in Thailand, Germany, and Australia in the coming weeks.
YouTube has also mentioned that they plan to expand the availability of this new plan to more countries later this year. Fingers crossed, Malaysia will be included in the rollout!
