Oppo Find N5 Hits Malaysia: Ultra-Thin Foldable Phone Starts At RM7,999

The company claims this is the world's thinnest foldable smartphone.

Oppo has unveiled the highly anticipated successor to its Find N series, the Find N5, touting it as the world’s thinnest foldable smartphone. When folded, the device measures a mere 8.93mm, and when unfolded, it becomes even slimmer at just 4.21mm—barely thicker than a USB-C port.

So, how did Oppo achieve such a sleek design for the Find N5? The key lies in its innovative Titanium Flexion Hinge, which is 26% smaller than the hinge used in the Find N3 while offering enhanced rigidity.

To further reduce weight, Oppo incorporated a complex 3D-printed titanium wing panel and a carbon fibre composite, bringing the device’s weight down to just 229 grams. The phone’s frame is crafted from 7000 series aluminium.

Under the hood, the Find N5 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, though Oppo opted for the version with one fewer performance core. It comes paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, with no other storage variants available.

The device features an 8.12-inch LTPO OLED main display with FHD+ resolution, a 9.9:9 aspect ratio, and a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The screen can reach up to 2,100 nits of peak brightness. On the outside, there’s a 6.62-inch LTPO OLED cover screen with FHD+ resolution, a 20.7:9 aspect ratio, and the same 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, but with a higher peak brightness of 2,450 nits. Both displays support the Oppo Pen stylus, which is sold separately.

For photography, the Find N5 boasts a triple-camera system co-developed with Hasselblad. The primary camera features a 50MP LYT-700 sensor with a 21mm equivalent focal length and optical image stabilisation (OIS). It’s accompanied by a 50MP periscope lens (Samsung JN5) offering a 70mm equivalent focal length and 3x optical zoom. Rounding out the setup is an 8MP ultrawide camera (15mm) with autofocus capabilities. It also has two 8MP selfie cameras.

On the software front, the Find N5 runs ColorOS 15 based on Android 15. Oppo promises four years of Android version updates and six years of security patches.

The device is powered by a 5,600mAh silicon carbon battery, supporting 80W SuperVOOC wired charging and 50W AirVOOC wireless charging.

In addition to its slim and lightweight design, the Find N5 is the world’s first foldable smartphone to achieve IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 water resistance ratings. This means it can withstand pressurised water jets, hot water, and submersion.
