The tech world has been abuzz with speculation regarding the future of OnePlus, following a wave of rumours suggesting the brand might scale back its global operations.
Setting the record straight, the company has officially confirmed a major restructuring of its market presence, announcing a complete exit from both the European and North American (U.S and Canada) regions.
For consumers in Europe and North America, this marks the end of the road for new hardware releases. However, OnePlus has reassured current device owners that they will not be left stranded. The company intends to fully honour its existing commitments, promising that software updates and security patches will roll out according to their original schedules. Furthermore, customer service channels and warranty support will remain fully operational to assist users with their current handsets.
Meanwhile, it is business as usual for the Indian market. OnePlus has explicitly stated that its operations in India will continue without disruption, with an exciting pipeline of new product launches already scheduled for the region.
The company also dropped a significant software announcement: all existing eligible devices worldwide will officially transition from OxygenOS to ColorOS, starting with the upcoming Android 17 update. Eventually, the same might happen to Realme devices as well.

This major strategic pivot leaves the Malaysian market in a state of ambiguity. OnePlus has yet to release an official statement regarding its future in this country. Given the massive market dominance and deeply entrenched presence of its sister brand Oppo in the country, it would not be a surprise if OnePlus eventually decided to wind down its Malaysian operations as well.
