Bethesda Drops The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Out Of Nowhere

The horse armor is back.

After over 19 years since it first came out in 2006 on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is back with a full remaster.

Bethesda just dropped a surprise announcement and release for Oblivion Remastered on the same day—though fans already had a heads-up thanks to leaks.

Bethesda Game Studios worked with a third-party studio, Virtuos to recreate Cyrodiil on Unreal Engine 5, giving the whole game a visual upgrade with better lighting, with Lumen ray tracing and textures, but it still keeps some of the original engine to stay true to the classic feel.

They’ve also tweaked the UI and leveling system to match modern RPGs, and combat feels weightier thanks to improved animations, sound, and effects. Oh, and yes—there’s finally a sprint button.
