Google SynthID Detector: Free Tool To Identify AI Images, Audio, And Video

It detects AI-generated media from Google, OpenAI, Nvidia, Kakao, and Apple.

Telling AI-generated media apart from the real deal is getting pretty tough if you do not know what to look for, which is why Google has launched a handy tool to help spot AI content.

The SynthID Detector lets you check whether an image, video, or audio file was produced using AI tools from Google, OpenAI, Nvidia, or Kakao.

It will soon be able to flag media created with Apple’s AI tech as well. Google claims it has already watermarked over 180 billion images and videos alongside 240,000 years of audio since rolling out SynthID back in 2023.

The technology works by embedding invisible watermarks directly into the media files. The detector simply searches for those hidden markers, and if it finds them, it lets you know the content was created by AI.

If you want to test it out, you can give it a spin for free directly through their website.
