Huawei is finally making a comeback with its Mate lineup in Malaysia, and this time they are bringing the Mate 80 Pro to local shores. It has been a few years since the Mate 50 and 50 Pro were the last ones we saw, so fans of the series will definitely be happy to see the return of the Mate series.
Under the hood, the Mate 80 Pro is powered by the Kirin 9030 chip and comes loaded with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The display is a 6.75-inch 1.5K OLED screen with a 1-120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, 1,440Hz PWM dimming to keep things easy on the eyes and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. It looks quite modern too, with flat corners on all sides and some impressively slim bezels.

The camera department is where things get really interesting. There are four cameras on the back, headlined by a 50MP main sensor that features a variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0 and optical image stabilisation. It also uses an RYYB sensor to pull in extra light for better low-light performance.
Rounding out the setup is a 40MP ultrawide, a 48MP macro telephoto lens with 4x physical zoom, and a second-generation colour-sensing camera designed to keep your photos and videos looking as true-to-life as possible. Over on the front, you will find a 13MP wide-angle camera paired with a 3D depth-sensing lens for secure face unlocking.

To keep you going all day, Huawei has packed in a 5,750mAh battery. Charging is equally snappy with support for 100W super-fast wired charging and 80W wireless charging if you are using Huawei’s own charger.
The design is also a major talking point, sporting the new dual space rings. It is built to be tough, too, using a new architecture reinforced with second-generation Kunlun Glass and durable nylon fibre. It even carries IP68 and IP69 ratings, meaning it can handle both water submersion and high-temperature sprays without a problem.
Pricing and Availability
You can take your pick from three colours: Gold, Green, and Black. For the Malaysian market, Huawei is only offering just one configuration, the 16GB+512GB model, which will set you back RM3,999.
To sweeten the deal, there are some pretty substantial pre-order gifts on the table worth up to RM2,115, though you will need to move fast while stocks last. The gifts include a MatePad 11.5 worth RM1,299 and a suite of Huawei Premium Services valued at RM816.
These services are quite a nice safety net, covering a one-year Care+ plan, a free battery replacement within three years, four screen protector replacements over two years, and a one-year APAC warranty.
If you are ready to put your money down, preorders are available through the official Huawei website as well as their stores on Lazada, Shopee, and TikTok.
