A few years ago, if you told someone that Xbox exclusive games would be coming to the PlayStation 5 (PS5), they might have laughed or called you crazy. But the gaming landscape has evolved dramatically, and Xbox’s future no longer hinges solely on selling exclusive titles for its own hardware.
Take Forza Horizon, the beloved open-world racing game franchise, for example. Previously available only on Xbox and PC, it’s now making its debut on Sony’s console. Playground Games, the developer behind the franchise, recently announced that Forza Horizon 5 will be hitting the PS5 in Spring 2025.

This isn’t the first time Xbox exclusives have crossed over to PlayStation. Last year, Microsoft revealed that four of its previously exclusive titles—Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded—would be available on the PS5.
The big question now is: will more Xbox exclusives follow? According to Xbox’s head, Phil Spencer, the answer is yes.

“We are finding that our games shipping on multiple platforms is a good thing for Xbox,” said Spencer. “It makes Xbox stronger, it lets us do shows like we did with showcase with great games, give our teams the time they need, for us to invest in platform, for us to invest in hardware. I think all of this is a part of what Xbox will be going forward.”
Rumours are swirling that Microsoft is even considering bringing iconic franchises like Gears of War and Halo to the PS5.
Additionally, Sony’s console is set to receive Indiana Jones and the Great Circle in the near future.
