Nintendo just dropped more Switch 2 details recently, but they’re being super vague about the actual hardware specs—especially the chip powering the console.
All they’ve said is that the Switch 2 runs on a “custom processor made by Nvidia.” Luckily, Nvidia gave us a few hints to figure out how much of an upgrade this thing really is.
According to Nvidia, the chip has dedicated RT and Tensor Cores, and it support DLSS —though they didn’t specify which version. Our guess? It’s probably a custom DLSS setup based on DLSS 3.
Nvidia also mentioned that the Tensor Cores can handle AI-powered face tracking and background removal for video chat, which could make streaming and social gaming way smoother.
And ray tracing is officially supported—but weirdly, none of Nintendo’s game trailers so far seem to show it off.
Also, the Switch 2 supports VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) thanks to Nvidia G-Sync, so gameplay should look extra smooth and tear-free.
