Pebble Is Back And There Are Two New Smartwatches!

But they’re no longer called Pebble; the founder created "Core Devices," maintaining the Pebble-like design and functionality.

If you’re into wearables, you’ve probably heard of Pebble or even owned one. The company launched its first smartwatch, simply called “Pebble,” back in January 2013 but shut down in December 2016, with Fitbit acquiring the company’s assets and some employees.

Now, Pebble’s original creator, Eric Migicovsky, has started a new company called Core Devices and is bringing back two Pebble-like smartwatches—but they won’t carry the Pebble name this time.

The first watch, the Core 2 Duo (no relation to the old Intel processor), is basically a revamped Pebble 2. It keeps the same 1.26” black-and-white e-paper display, but now boasts a 30+ day battery life, a built-in speaker, barometer, compass sensors, and more.

It’s priced at USD149 (~RM660.50) and is set to ship in July 2025, though only 10,000 units will be available.

The second watch, the Core Time 2, is an upgraded version of the unreleased Pebble Time 2. It features a 1.5” 64-color e-paper touchscreen, 30-day battery life, a speaker, and improved chips for step tracking, sleep monitoring, and heart rate tracking. This one will cost USD225 (~RM997.40) and is expected to ship in December 2025.

Both watches run on PebbleOS, so they’re compatible with over 10,000 Pebble apps and watch faces. Plus, the Core 2 Duo is even being built using leftover Pebble parts, which is a cool nod to its roots.
