If you have been relying on Rapid On-Demand for your daily commute, you will want to take note of some changes hitting the service soon. From 1 February 2026, the flat rate for a trip will increased from RM1 to RM2.
This new fare also applies to anyone using the My50, Rapid Kota, Rapid Kembara, or Rapid Keluarga travel passes. It is not all bad news for everyone, though, as Rapid Pelajar and Rapid Emas pass holders will still enjoy their 50% discount, and those with Rapid Mesra concession cards can continue to ride for free.

Besides that, Prasarana also announced a massive expansion of the service area. They have announced 53 new zones across the Klang Valley and Penang, which will be rolled out gradually starting next year and finishing up by the end of 2028. The breakdown sees 31 new zones added to the Klang Valley and 22 for Penang, making the service much more accessible for those living a bit further out.
To keep up with this growth, the company is investing in a greener fleet with 300 new electric vans set to arrive starting in late 2027. Penang is getting the lion’s share of it with 170 vans allocated to the island and mainland, while the remaining 130 will be deployed across the Klang Valley.
