In the most recent WhatsApp beta version for Android, the company has introduced a generative AI feature designed to create custom icons for your group chats.
As reported by WABetaInfo, this functionality is currently limited to group chat icons and doesn’t extend to generating images for profile pictures in one-on-one chats.
However, the ability to create AI-generated profile pictures for individual chats may be introduced in the future.
For now, if you’re part of the WhatsApp for Android beta program, the latest update should activate the group chat icon generation feature.
The image generation is powered by Meta AI, which is also integrated into group chats to assist with settling debates, offering ideas for events, or creating entertaining images.
While you’ll need the latest beta version to access the AI-generated group chat icons, once an icon is created, it will be visible to everyone in the group.
