‘Recently, WhatsApp rolled out its “Message Summaries” feature to all users, letting you quickly catch up on unread messages in a chat using AI. The only catch? It only works one chat at a time.
But that might change soon. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a new feature called “Quick Recap” that’ll let you summarise messages from multiple chats at once.
With Quick Recap, you’ll be able to bundle up to five conversations into a single summary. Just select the chats you want, tap the three-dot menu in the top corner, and hit “Quick Recap.”

Like Message Summaries, it uses Meta’s Private Processing tech to generate the recap, meaning no third parties—not even Meta or WhatsApp—can read your original messages or the summaries.
The feature is optional and off by default, just like Message Summaries. It also won’t work with chats protected by “Advanced chat privacy,” keeping those extra-secure conversations out of summaries.
Right now, Quick Recap is still in development. It’s expected to hit beta testers in a future update before eventually rolling out to everyone.
